Strategy 3: Role modeling how to be a good communicator
You can help a peer researcher by showing them how you communicate with others. You are a role model when they can see you successfully communicating with the research team.
Good communication can look different for different people. Some people use eye contact and nod their heads to show they understand. Other people look away or move their bodies to help them concentrate on what the other person is saying.
Sometimes you need to speak up, get people's attention, or stop someone from interrupting you. This can be hard. Planning what you want to say can help you feel confident when you communicate with your team. You can work with a peer to plan what to say. You can practice sharing your ideas with each other.
Try it yourself. Use this worksheet to help you and the peer researcher plan what to share.
