Listen to this section:
The research team completed interviews with:
- 5 young adults with IDD
- 4 peer supporters with IDD
- 5 parents of young adults with IDD
- 5 people who provide services and supports to young adults with IDD
A young adult with IDD on the research team interviewed the young adults with IDD. This research team member provided peer support during the interview to the interviewee. During the interviews, the team asked questions about each person’s experiences with transition services. The team also asked about each person’s past experiences with research and peer support.
Here are some examples of the questions that were asked:
- Can you describe some of the transition services and supports that you receive(d)?
- Did you ever receive services or supports from a peer or through peer support?
- How do you think peer support could help you when you transition out of school or into adult roles?
- What areas do you think are important to research about peer support?
