Our Inclusive Team
Listen to this section:
It is important that research teams studying issues that affect people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have people with IDD participating in them. This is often called an inclusive research team.
Our main research team had five people. They all worked together through every step of the research.
- Senior researcher: Sometimes called the Principal Investigator (PI) or Project Lead, who led the research project and team.
- Project manager: Led data collection and analysis.
- Project coordinator: Scheduled and organized the team to collect data, analyze it and share results.
- 2 Research assistants: Young adults with IDD, who have research experience as team members and participants.
During the study, the research team discussed information with experts on the Advisory Board and consultants. The experts included:
- Young adults with IDD
- Family members of young adults with IDD
- People who provide peer support
- People who provide transition services
- People who research transition
- People who study inclusive research and peer support
