The research team combined all the information we collected from the articles, interviews, and focus groups to learn about the main themes and ideas about transition and peer support. This information was organized and compared in a spreadsheet. To combine the main ideas, the team followed these steps. 1

  1. Categorize information from the articles, interviews, and focus groups to see where there was similarity
  2. Check if the themes were the same, sort of the same, not the same, or not present
  3. Take notes on what was the same and different
  4. Check if the themes were defined the same way or described with the same importance
  5. Review the results with the whole team and an Advisory Board that included young people with IDD, parents, researchers, and transition service providers

Comparison Data was combined into a spreadsheet.
