Listen to this story:

Here is a story about a peer supporter, Amy.
She is a peer supporter for a new researcher, Barbara.
In this story, Amy shares her experiences with Barbara.

Amy is a peer supporter on the research team. Amy is helping Barbara learn about her new job as a research assistant.

Barbara was feeling nervous. To help her feel better, Amy shared examples (a) of when she first started on the team. Amy told a story about how she learned how to collect data by practicing with another team member. Barbara asked if Amy could practice with her. Amy said "of course!"

They also planned time to hang out each week so that they could get to know each other. They decided to meet for coffee, and each bring a picture of something they liked. This helped both of them figure out what they had in common (b) and feel like they belonged on the team.

You will learn more about each of these strategies in this section.
