As a peer supporter, one of your roles is to build a relationship or friendship with your peers on the team. Friendships can help you build community.

Peer supporters can also help other people with disabilities connect with many more people like them. Peer supporters can help people with disabilities socialize and do things together.

Peer supporters can solve problems by communicating with other group members. When we get to know each other, we are better able to solve problems together. Working together and advocating as a group is powerful. It can make a big difference when we help other people to manage difficult events, and to make them feel happy and proud.

People with disabilities can learn from positive role models who are people with disabilities.
